Balanced and Unbalanced Forces
Forces are measured by Vectors that include two properties: Magnitude (Strength) and Direction. The longer the vector, the more force it represents. The direction the vector (arrow) is pointing represents the direction the force is being applied, it can be pushing or pulling on an object
Net Force
Net Force is the result of all the forces acting on an object. It is measured in Newtons (N).
If arrows are pointing in the same direction: ADD
If arrows are pointing in the opposite direction: SUBTRACT
If arrows are pointing in the same direction: ADD
If arrows are pointing in the opposite direction: SUBTRACT
Balanced Forces
Balanced forces cause NO MOTION. The net force will always be 0 Newtons.
EX. If I am pushing on you with the same force as you pushing back against me, nothing will happen.
EX. If I am pushing on you with the same force as you pushing back against me, nothing will happen.
unbalanced forces
Unbalanced forces ALWAYS CAUSE MOTION. The result of the vectors is the net force and includes a direction.
